I've google this a bunch, found a bunch of other threads with the same problem, but no answers. I've tried multiple USB ports, 2.0 and 3.0. I went into setup and disabled every boot priority option except the USB and it just went into some command line sort of thing that very clearly was not Secure Erase. Tried changing the Boot order in setup, same result. pc boot in safe mode (when you changed ATA to AHCI for first time only). Select the USB, it boots into Windows through the SSD anyway. Samsung 860 EVO 250GB SATA 2.5 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (MZ-76E250). Using an MSI Z97S SLI Krait mobo, which has UEFI. I created a bootable USB drive, but can not get it to boot. Samsung Magician says that it can't do so in Windows past Windows 8, so you have to create a bootable drive, and has a utility to do so. I already cloned it to another hard drive, and just need to erase the SSD now. This forces a manual shutdown.I want to secure erase an 850 EVO SSD I sold. If I press a key then that key just infinitely scrolls on screen and it appears to crash and never exits. The software then can't find the single nvme in the system and then tells me to press a key to exit. 2 people on YouTube commented about keyboard not working so I know I'm not alone. If i replug it in about 7 or 8 times at random usb ports it finally works and I can type y to accept.

Make sure youve installed SAMSUNG MAGICIAN software, as it is helpful for ssd firmware update and management. My keyboard is just dead at this screen (taken from YouTube): .boot maybe slower just do Nothing, wait. After changing the board to CSM mode I could go into boot mode and just find the non uefi drive. I know a decent amount about tech stuff but I have never really had to change all the legacy boot stuff as this was not a UEFI image.

It seems like most people recommend (as makes sense) to have the software by the manufacturer do it. I am wanting to secure erase it before selling.
